day two hundred ninety-one: photographic tendencies

At the start of yesterday's class, the teacher asked us to make a list of our photographic tendencies. At the time, I could only come up with 4 things. Given time to think about it, I've added many more items to that list:
  • I always shoot in color
  • I always use a digital camera
  • I try to set up my shots so no cropping is necessary
  • I (almost) always take vertical shots
  • I never use a tripod
  • I raise the shutter speed when there's too much light (vs. lowering the aperture)
  • I prefer shots with shallow depths of field
  • I like slightly overexposed shots
  • I prefer to take photos outside
  • I prefer to take photos on cloudy days
  • I hate hate hate using a flash
  • I try to get shots in focus
That last one wouldn't have occurred to me as a "tendency," but more of a given. When the teacher told us to try and think outside the box--by taking monochromatic, over/underexposed, or even blurry shots--I knew I could do that last one. Who can't take blurry shots?!

Of course, it's harder than I thought it would be, but isn't everything?
